Affordable, versatile standing laptop stand, December 13, 2011
By J. (New York, NY USA)

I've been using this for a couple of months, and I have to say I absolutely love this! I am so happy I bought it. (Techni Mobili Mobile Laptop MDF Cart with Storage, Woodgrain, 22-Inch W by 16-Inch D by 44-Inch H)

I bought this because I have been reading about the benefits of standing while working. Because of the price, I wasn't expecting anything top-of-the-line. There ARE concerns, but all were minor for me, esp considering my budget and the alternatives--standing desks that are several hundred or the Ikea option which is not doable for me, because I don't have a car.

This was easy to assemble--well labeled. There was an issue with holes in one piece being covered up with the laminate or whatever the material is, but I just took a screwdriver to it to break through. That should give you an idea of how delicate the fake wood covering is--I actually nicked a corner against my hammer and scraped a bit off. But, unless you're purposely trying to scratch it off, it's durable.

If you're looking for something to regularly move around, I should note that the wheels are so-so--across smooth floors, they're great. They're shaky when moving it across rugs and I imagine if you have carpet, it could be difficult. Nevertheless, the stand is incredibly light. For me (5' 1"), I sorta half lift, have roll it over a door threshhold and onto my rug, and it doesn't deter me at all from moving it around on a daily basis. In fact, when I originally bought this, I intended to leave it in one place. But I've found it so comfortable to use that I'll roll it around (instead of resting my computer on my lap, because it gets so hot and is precarioius) Note: the top doesn't lower enough to use it with a couch. Another note: I keep a couple of books and binders stored in it, which doesn't influence the rolling ability.

I love the size of the top. I have a 15" laptop--there's room for a trackball mouse or your mug of coffee.

I don't really use the shelf below for coffee as is shown in the photo. I find it cumbersome to grab it from below while working. If you're already standing, it's easier to walk a few steps to grab coffee from an adjacent table then to bend down and pick it up from there. And if you have the top lowered for use while sitting, that spot doesn't have enough room for a mug. It's incredible easy to lower the top with the laptop on it. And while sitting, the "wings" that come off the sides are great foot rests.

All in all--I love this and have come to use it more than I originally intended.

Great Podium Alternative, October 15, 2011

Podiums and lecterns are expensive on the public school teacher budget. This laptop "cart" has been a great alternative for its price and versatility.

It will hold two of my teacher manuals normally on the lower shelf or all three manuals with the bindings facing up instead of out like on a bookshelf. On the telescoping shelf, it easily supports an open teacher's manual or a 17 inch laptop.

Once I set the top adjustable shelf to my height, I have had no need to change it and risk breaking the clamp as one reviewer did. It also seems to have a good center of gravity with my teacher's manuals in the bottom shelf, so knocking it over by accident has not occurred as it did from another reviewer.(Techni Mobili Mobile Laptop MDF Cart with Storage, Woodgrain, 22-Inch W by 16-Inch D by 44-Inch H)

It is not difficult to assemble with a power screw driver. But a person who has never assembled modular furniture before, or does not have a power screw driver could easily become frustrated.

For the money, this "podium" is a great classroom tool that doesn't take up a lot of space in a crowded room and can be wheeled out of the way if necessary.

Nearly Perfect., December 12, 2011

Works perfect for what I was looking for. I wanted a stand I could use in bed to keep my 13lb. 17" Dell off my lap while I was sitting or laying back. The tray works for both skinny and thick laptops (just flip it over) and the legs can be adjusted every 15 degrees so it sits right for any position. (Furinno - Adjustable Vented Laptop Table Laptop Computer Desk Portable Bed Tray Book Stand)

You will want to add some velcro to the tray and the bottom of your laptop to keep it from tipping or falling off if you have it at an extreme angle, height, or have an over sized battery. Be careful not to use too much velcro (I recommend 1-1.5"). I ripped the cover off the back of my computer when trying to remove it when I put a strip all the way across. Try to avoid using velcro on the covers all together just to be safe. The stand is super light and takes only seconds to adjust to or from fully collapsed. The one and only drawback I've found is that it's made in China.

Does what it says!, November 14, 2011

 By
S. Schmidt (Seattle, Wa)  I've had this product, and used it consistently for about 1.5 months now, so I hope this review finds potential buyers well!

First off, what an awesome product for those of us that have limited space! This caught my eye specifically because of it's very small footprint, and because of the flexibility available through all of the different adjustments. I've used this in bed, on the bean bag (6' Comfy Sack), on the couch, and simply sitting on the floor - all will great success and minimal adjustment! (Furinno - Adjustable Vented Laptop Table Laptop Computer Desk Portable Bed Tray Book Stand)

Pros:
-The simple ability to adjust height, angle, position, etc. is a huge draw for me! I absolutely love the I can adjust this table into so many different positions.
-Setting this up initially can be a small challenge for someone not mechanically inclined, but I really appreciate the ability to change the angles at each connecting piece. You need to remove the laptop from the table to make adjustments quickly, but it really does adjust with a couple of moves, and you're back in business.
-The materials that this is made of are great, and seem to be holding up really well thus far. I haven't felt any play in the hinges after using this for more than a month, and all of the parts are holding up otherwise as they were on day one.
-The vents in the surface do provide good air flow for the laptop, so that's an appreciated feature.
-Design of the surface was fairly well thought out from my perspective, although I think that because I use a mouse on the side it's a little challenging to fit everything - not unusable though by any means.
-When the wife comes running through to clean house or we have guests coming through I can quickly pick this up, and fold it up until she's done or they're gone. It has a really low footprint, and even smaller when folded up. I haven't taken this traveling yet, but I can completely see folding this up flat and putting it into the suitcase without having any concerns on space.

Cons:
-Using this for a laptop only is perfect, but I like to use an additional mouse on the side. That can pose some challenges depending on what you're doing. I haven't had any major conflicts, but thought I would share just for the sake of mentioning.
-Stability can be an issue if the angles are not set up correctly to balance your weight on the mouse/laptop, and the laptop itself. Be sure you test out your final settings before settling in for your work or evening reading. (Furinno - Adjustable Vented Laptop Table Laptop Computer Desk Portable Bed Tray Book Stand)

All in all, a great product, and I would certainly recommend it for those that are willing to set it up correctly.

Good product, could be priced more competitively.
By

I am happy with this product. I read the reviews of others, and so had realistic expectations. When I use it
(Adjustable Vented Laptop Table Laptop Computer Desk Portable Bed Tray Book Stand)
, I have better back posture, which was the main reason I got it. My back had been KILLING me after so many hours spent on my laptop. Some people said the buttons seemed like they'd break easily, but I don't feel that way. Maybe they were improved upon. It's not flimsy either. It takes a bit of getting used to, as far as figuring out the right way to put the legs, and then there's the issue of balance.

When I've got it just right, it will some times go to tilt once I put the laptop on it, the weight of the computer changing the balance - this is particularly when I'm using it on a sofa, where the cushion adjusts due to the weight. Typically, I've just moved the bottom leg in the opposite direction and shift the weight that way. Anyway, I'm happy with it. I think it could be more competitively priced, which is the reason I gave it four instead of five stars . It's better priced than the lapdawg, but I think they can all be more competitively priced.

Hope my review helps!

Perfect for using your laptop in bed, November 21, 2011

Seems like there's a lot of these 'adjustable laptop trays' out there.(Adjustable Vented Laptop Table Laptop Computer Desk Portable) You might read some of the comments and wonder about the quality of some of them. I can't speak to those other trays, but this one really works. The tray and legs are sturdy aluminum and will support any laptop fine. The joints are plastic, but I have had no issue with them. I have back trouble and this thing is perfect for working on my laptop in bed. My laptop is a widescreen, but it fits fine.

You should note that there's no place for a mouse on the tray. Personally I think a mouse would be awkward to use on an inclined tray even if there was room like some trays offer. My suggestion would be to get a wireless mouse and then you can use it on any flat surface and you don't need an attached tray.

A word of caution - even though this tray can indeed fold up, in practice it is a pain to fold and unfold. Like me you'll probably find a setting that works best for you and leave it that way.f

Overall, quality product, does what it says on the box.
